I got my car stereo situation sorted out. The gigantic OEM unit is reinstalled, thanks to the guide at http://installdr.com/. Because it’s a cassette system, I had to come up with a way to get my tunes in there…

I’ve been mostly listening to Rose Cousins‘ “if you were for me” for days. It’s wistful, lonely, hopeful, comforting and bleak. It’s also pleasantly, mostly acoustic, making it resemble her live performance much more than most of the folk CDs I’ve heard.
Go get it.
