I’ve been using the same mplayer command for mythvideo, and I’m too experiencing audio sync problems. I found by clicking pause-pause really quick, I can get them in sync, and won’t even really notice the actual video pause. I don’t remember if it slides out of sync again.

Please let me know if you figure this one out - because I’m finding myself using mythvideo a lot, now that my mythbox has enough CPU power to run mplayer!

I agree. I also read that article and was suprised that they didn’t cover mythTV or freevo. Methinks we’ve got far too many M$ minions in our midst ;)
