Boingboing has posted a time-line of events surrounding the Sony rootkit-as-DRM debacle. If you’re still buying products from Sony, start asking yourself if it’s really worth it. It struck me one day, in the midst of yet another corporate reorg, that the org chart in corporate culture makes a nifty decision tree for finding where to place blame when things go wrong. I think it’s too bad that this is all too often its main usage.

Recently got vertigo again and unlike last time I didn’t wait to seek help from a doctor. They prescribed a medicine that has finally worked, just took a few days to kick in. The best thing about this vertigo medicine? The absolutely best thing is one of the side effects: “May cause dizziness”. +)

I upgraded to ivtv 0.4.0 on the mythtv machine today. For whatever reason(s), /dev/lirc has disappeared again and udev doesn’t seem to want to put it back. At least the myth backend is all working. It looks like using mplayer -vo x11 with the new ivtv_fb (PVR-350 TV-out) gives vastly improved output; I didn’t notice [...]

It probably bears mentioning that this site is currently using a modified Wuhan theme. I really like Wuhan itself, it just doesn’t go so well with the red stapler motif. I want to do some more work on the header, but so far I’m really liking the results.
