I got my car stereo situation sorted out. The gigantic OEM unit is reinstalled, thanks to the guide at http://installdr.com/. Because it’s a cassette system, I had to come up with a way to get my tunes in there…
Ingredients:
- Archos Jukebox 6000
- Rockbox custom firmware
- cassette adapter
Optionally, add the following:
- Higher capacity NiMH batteries. The Jukebox originally came with 1500mah AAs, and they’re quite old. I’m first going to try a recondition cycle on the charger and see if their life improves, but one of the four has already completely stopped responding to the charger.
- Higher capacity hard drive. 2.5″ drives are cheaper all the time, and 20 to 30G is quite enough for a USB 1.0 attached player. I’m certain I don’t have nearly that much good music anyway.
